"We want to show that everyone can take a step toward reducing their contributions to global climate change," said Erin Russell-Story, one of the Energy Day organizers.
Alternative fuel and hybrid vehicles reduce air pollution emissions, greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce our dependence on oil - especially foreign oil.
"So many people are already doing the right thing with the cars they drive. Look around. How many hybrids do you see in single day? We want to bring those folks together to celebrate and to spread the word about how easy it is to reduce the carbon footprint of your driving habits," said Dennis Derryberry of the Mad River Sustainability Group.

11:30 - Presentation: Energy Star Homes' Jeff Gephart will explore energy efficiency in homes as well as the Energy Star Homes program of Efficiency Vermont for new construction. Gephart will have literature and program application forms, including the economic benefits and subsidies available to participants.
12:00 - "Green" Vehicle Rally, "High Noon for High Emissions": Come down in hybrids, veggie cars, EVs, electric bike, roller skates, on foot, etc. Rally with the growing community who have made a very simple change in their lives to reduce the carbon footprint of their driving habits!
1:00 - Film: <MI>Kilowatt Ours - A Plan to Re-Energize America<D> presented by April Smith. Filmmaker Jeff Barrie exposes dangers of the coal industry while inviting viewers to create a "net zero energy" nation through conservation, efficiency and renewables. This is a special 20-minute preview of the new national edition due for release this fall!
2:30 - Presentation: Cellulose Superinsulation, Bill Hulstrunk of cellulose insulation manufacturer National Fiber will discuss the ecological and economic benefits of the highly efficient and 100 percent recycled insulation - cellulose - which also offers significant benefits in fire resistance, insect resistance, and soundproofing.
4:00 - Presentation: James Moore of VPIRG will review the status of statehouse energy and climate change bills.
