Construction of the Moretown town office building is on schedule and may be completed by late June or early July.
Barnet-based company Ruggco Inc. began construction last fall after Maclay Architects of Waitsfield submitted their design, which project manager and clerk of the works Henry Erickson said was “builder friendly” to implement.
Erickson and Ruggco Inc. owner Larry Ruggles said that the office is a zero net energy (ZNE) building and that the total operating costs would be $0 if solar panels were installed in the future.
When contractors released large amounts of air from the inside to determine how much would be lost, they found no leaks. “It passed by a wide margin,” Erickson said.
The roof will be completed by this week and siding will be added the following week. By April 25, the crew will finish wiring, drywall and a heating and cooling system. By May 8, the interior should be complete with flooring, lighting and trim. The exterior will be painted white with taupe trim.
Erickson said the project has run smoothly with an excellent team and that they will finish earlier than the contract’s mid-August completion date.
