Landowner Robin Morris is seeking to divide his 130-acre property into seven house lots, ranging in size from less than 15 acres to 75 acres. The remaining land, roughly 70 acres, is to be conserved as deer wintering habitat, according to plans submitted at the first public hearing hosted by the Fayston Planning Commission in November.
At that time, residents from Waitsfield turned out to question whether accessing the development via the Old County Road, or Loop Road, would negatively impact what many described as a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood.
Residents also posed similar concerns to the Waitsfield Select Board as they met three times to discuss potential road upgrades involved with the project. The Waitsfield Select Board is currently seeking a legal opinion on the question of whether one town can ask a developer in an adjacent town to upgrade roads.
Most recently, the Fayston Select Board came to an agreement with Morris to add a recreation trail roughly parallel to the Old Center Fayston Road in exchange for allowing the Class IV road to be improved as access to the proposed subdivision.
In Warren this Wednesday, applicants Danforth and Alexandra Newcomb submitted a proposal to the DRB for sketch plan review of a nine-lot subdivision proposed for the south end of Main Street. The property is located in the rural residential and Warren Village historic residential districts, according to information from the town.
For the second hearing, Summit Ventures sought to amend permits issued in May of 2005 for a building in the Lincoln Peak base area slated to house the Family Center.
Summit Ventures seeks to reconfigure the building to host the ski school, day care, rentals and other services, with residential units on the upper levels and underground parking, as part of Phase II of the Lincoln Peak Base Redevelopment Project, town information states.
