Monday, January 26, was the last day to file a petition to run for select board in The Valley towns of Warren, Waitsfield and Moretown. The candidates for the terms up for election are listed below, although residents can still decide to run as a write-in candidate between now and Town Meeting in March.
In Warren, Clay Mays is running for the three-year term currently held by Matt Groom. Luke Youmell is running for the two-year term currently held by Colleen Mari Mays, for which Charles R. Snow is also running as a write-in candidate. Groom and Colleen Mari Mays are not running for re-election. Randy Graves is running for the two years remaining in Anson Montgomery's three-year term, as Montgomery is resigning this year.
In Waitsfield, Jerry Miller, Kari Dolan and Chris Pierson are running for the two-year term currently held by Chris Pierson. Paul Hartshorn is running for the three-year term he currently holds.
In Moretown, Tom Martin and Michelle Beard are running for two one-year terms currently held by Martin and Reed Korrow. As of Monday, no one filed a petition to run for the three-year term currently held by Beard.
In Fayston and Duxbury, voting will take place from the floor at Town Meeting and both towns have select board terms coming to an end in 2015.
In Fayston, select board member Jared Cadwell's three-year term is up for election this year. In Duxbury, select board member Dick Charland's three-year term is up for election, as are Marty Wells' and Amy Scharf's two-year terms.
