For the past few weeks, Valley residents have put their creative minds to work crafting creations with frosting and candy.

Those creations will be on display in the Warren Gingerbread Contest taking place in the East Warren Schoolhouse's upstairs room on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, December 6 through 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is the ninth year that Ashley Woods has organized the Warren Gingerbread Contest, which is sponsored by East Warren Community Market and benefits the Warren After School Program. So far, "There's 40 to 50 gingerbread houses in the works right now," Woods said, including a lighthouse, a piece of the Great Wall of China and a replica of Emerald City from The Wizard of Oz.

Even though it's a contest, "There's a lot of different categories," Woods said, including those for kid, adult and group creations, "so every single house is going to win." The Warren Gingerbread Contest is open to anyone who drops off a house at East Warren Community Market at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 5.
