It has been a very busy year for Warren Historical Society. Members thanked everyone who donated to the cause of the Blair Barn. This year the donations and volunteer help helped members in getting power to the barn, windows reglazed and repaired, clapboards for the barn, and a first coat of paint. They still have about $12,000 more work to do before they can start to plan and arrange exhibits for the grand opening in 2015.
They thanked the members who have put a lot of volunteer time into achieving some of the goals for 2014. They are Leon and Ellen Bruno, Kenny Blair, Jack Miner, Doug Stoehr, Bob Grant, Ken Friedman, Gary Plewak and Wayne Kathan; Greg Schipa from Weather Hill Company donated the windows.
Along with their volunteers, they noted that Ward Clapboard Mill donated the clapboards, Sugarbush made a cash donation, and Mad River Valley Rotary made a cash donation. The Warren Grange, Dana and Eleanor Haskin donated the roof, Vince Gauthier donated electrical services and there were many membership drive donations received from Warren residents.
For 2015, remaining work includes completing siding on the south side, finishing electrical wiring inside the barn, landscaping the outside, re-creating the doors on the north side, painting the trim, adding a second coat of paint on the barn, creating placards for exhibits and designing the interior for exhibits.
"We are looking forward with pride and excitement of presenting this wonderful piece of history, to display artifacts of the past of Warren to the town and its people," said spokesperson Cindy Jones.
