To The Editor:
First, I would like to congratulate Amber Sorrell on her outstanding achievement. She is one of a very small minority of woman hunters and an even smaller group of successful moose hunters! I believe that The Valley Reporter owes no one an apology for sharing this event; it is front-page worthy. And, frankly, a nice break from the ongoing headlines of what a mess The Valley infrastructure has become.
Two of your last week's letters found the moose picture disturbing, I guess to say the least. When is news disturbing? When it is not in agreement with your personal beliefs? If so, may I suggest that these people avoid all social media. Or develop, and I quote, "tolerance" to what others may see as newsworthy.
Perhaps these people have never seen a dead animal on the highway or in the back of a hunter's truck...maybe this is a time to explain to their children that this is a part of living in Vermont, part of nature.
So in closing, I find it appalling that these people would have you not celebrate the success of a minority group...and that they should choose not to embrace the lifestyle that they have chosen to live among.
