To the Editor:
I write in response to the letter from Mr. Thomas chiding WDEV/Radio Vermont for its far-right commentary by John McLaughry and the perceived lack of balanced programming by WDEV. As a loyal, lifetime listener of WDEV, I believe Radio Vermont and its management team do offer a full range of views – with John McLaughry's "diatribe" offset by the commentary of Jim Hightower. Add to that Amy Goodman's daily "Democracy Now," Anthony Polina's weekly "Equal Time," Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility's weekly program and Thom Hartman's weekly program with Bernie Sanders for even more left-of-center views balancing out Rob Roper's daily "Common Sense" program. There is always a disclaimer before the commentaries indicating the views aired do not necessarily reflect the views of the staff and management of the Radio Vermont Group.
For my money, I wouldn't change a thing about WDEV. They are a true gift to Vermont and this Vermonter appreciates the heart and dedication of the staff and management of WDEV and the Radio Vermont Group.
