To The Editor:
The Waitsfield Select Board would like to urge all Waitsfield voters to cast a ballot by Tuesday, October 22, on the reconsideration of the July 30, 2013, bond vote that authorized the town to move forward with a new town office on the Farm Stand property.
Voters will be presented with the exact same ballot as was voted on in July: a yes vote supports the development of a new town office on the Farm Stand property; a no vote opposes it. Vermont state statutes require that the same ballot be presented for the reconsideration with no adjustments. The $650,000 figure for bond financing was originally set as a cap for borrowing to ensure enough funds would be available to finish the project. Additional resources recently received will help reduce the amount that will need to be borrowed.
This has been a hotly debated issue and we hope that a large number of voters will participate in this important decision. There will be a pre-bond vote public information meeting on Monday, 7 p.m., at Waitsfield Elementary School.
