To The Editor:
Nearly two years ago, when the waters of Tropical Storm Irene receded our valley woke to a new reality. Our community responded and brick by brick we began rebuilding... and from that effort the Mad River Long Term Recovery (MRLTRC) was formed. It is one of nine similar organizations across the state. From our humble beginnings, MRLTRC raised awareness and support networks. We helped people get to work. We helped people get food and shelter. We collected donated clothing and appliances. We recruited and recorded thousands of volunteer hours, and close to $1.5 million raised by the Mad RiverValley Community Fund and MRLTC.
Thank you, Mad River Valley. Thank you, friends. Thank you, neighbors, and those from beyond for helping us push back the flood waters and reclaim our community.
Asah Rowles, Warren
Chair of the board of the Mad River Long Term Recovery
