I assumed he was marking a new road cave-in, so I stopped to see what the problem was. It turned outÂ
he had stopped a motorist for speeding on a midweek day with practically no traffic on that road while everyone else in theÂ
area was stretched trying to get back to normal.
Â
If the sheriff's department can afford to send a patrolman out to hand out speeding tickets on a little used road, with all theÂ
emergency problems facing the state, the barracks concerned must be overstaffed. Perhaps the number of officers and the barracks’ budgetÂ
should be reduced.
