But this morning, the Kingsbury crew was all up and down the hill fixing the road. I turned down the hill and as I got to Joslin Hill, the Griffin & Griffin guys were all over the road working hard. Further down, I didn’t see the crew but Viens’ machinery was parked. The night before I remembered seeing the Munson guys on Tremblay Road repairing their work of last summer. Aside from the joke around town that this is Mother Nature’s way of telling us what she thinks of the water project, the Munson guys were working hard as well.

I think that Charlie Goodman has done an amazing job of coordinating so many contractors in dozens of directions simultaneously. I think it is almost a miracle that all of these contractors have been able to get so much repair work done so quickly. And I think our roads look great, the best in years. I am betting that if we get hammered again the integrity of what this community of “diggers” around here has done will stand us all in good stead.

My understanding is that we have already blown our road budget, so let’s blow it a little more. Let’s have a party for all the “diggers” involved in the road repairs at the Couples Club as soon as these hard-working guys can take a break. Beers and a “burger burn” seems like a nice way for the town and community to thank them all!
