Killington - 23 trails open; Mount Snow - 7 trails open; Okemo - 13
trails open; Stratton - 13 trails open; Stowe - 13 trails open;
Sugarbush - 3 trails open.
This beckons questions about why
Sugarbush is so far behind these other mountains. Resorts like Mount
Snow, have neither the latitude advantage nor the elevation advantage of
Sugarbush. The same is true for Okemo and Stratton.
Killington
has been open for a couple of weeks. Stowe is only 40 minutes or so
north. Yet these mountains all vastly outnumber Sugarbush in amount of
terrain open. In fact, Sugarbush was the only Vermont resort open this
past weekend that still required downloading.
As a passholder
at Sugarbush, this is frustrating, since it is not a one-time thing.
This is a trend that has been going on for several years. It has me
questioning whether or not I want to continue putting hundreds of
dollars a year into a season pass for a mountain that obviously doesn't
have a great desire or commitment to be the best. They are beginning to
lag behind other Vermont resorts, and it is becoming more and more
apparent.
