We here at the Village Grocery have decided to break away from the expectations and the greed of "Big Oil," to try to make an attempt at doing something better. The VG is creating an independent label in which to sell its gasoline called "Giving Gas Station" whereby we can put a part of our profits to work for us here at home. For the first year, we are going to partner up with the Vermont Foodbank and pledge one penny per gallon. All over Vermont and New England, our fuel is blended with up to 10 percent ethanol, a product mostly derived from the production of corn. As more of our food resources are used to help us support our energy needs, it drives up the costs of our foods that we eat. The rise in food costs will drive more and more people to use the resources of the food shelf, so by donating to the food shelf we are hoping to reduce this cycle. We hope that you stop by and see us and support us in this new idea.
