Driving along Interstate 10 into southern California a year ago, I was
amazed and moved by the hundreds, perhaps thousands of huge wind
turbines as well as solar panels cranking out clean energy in the Mojave
Desert. Seeing the solar panels suddenly appear in front of
Yestermorrow gave me a similar feeling. Solar panels are no eyesore but
rather a welcome change. I could argue that power lines, propane tanks,
lots filled with junk cars and gas stations spewing petroleum are much
worse eyesores than a bold attempt to show the world that harnessing the
sun's energy in cold, cloudy Vermont is possible.
As for your friend in Manhattan, folks like him ought to consider a
forward-thinking attitude adjustment, or maybe just stay in their cities
and suburbs.
