The select board voted not to include the automatic start. The transfer switch adds an element of safety to our children during a school day. It will also protect the building if there should be a power outage in the winter against the pipes freezing.

I understand that a vote for the transfer switch is an expenditure now, but it could be a great savings of the taxpayers' dollars. The perfect scenario would be that the emergency generator is ready when needed but never has to be used.

When Article 12 is addressed, we should ask the select board, what is their policy for the use of the emergency generator at the school?
