When you move to Vermont and the Mad River Valley, you should know a
little bit about what's going on here. Look at who we vote for: Bernie
Sanders, Peter Welch and the other guy, liberal Democrats all. Oops,
Bernie's an indy socialist. We overwhelmingly voted for Barack Obama.
Until we voted in the secret Republican, Adam Greshin, we voted for
moderate Democrats to the state house. That says we like to help our
working class and we want a sustainable, prosperous middle class.
So, now, when you threaten to take your money and go home, I, for one, with some sadness, say -- it's alright, go home.
A few years back a rich person wrote in this newspaper that rich people
were optimists. I am not a rich person, but I, too, am an optimist. So
I think most of Win Smith's anecdotal friends will see reason and
choose to stay here. But if they choose to leave I'm just as optimistic
that we will all be fine.
