I feel compelled to mention a few of the salient points in the
article since many people may not have read all the details given the
length of the article. The most telling statement in the article was:
"Many of them (bills) did not need to become law this year . . . our
lapses in process at times reached breathtaking new heights." Anne
talked about the lack of key information being provided before votes;
misinformation being provided; questions that could not be answered by
the people who should know the answers; and at least one bill that was
the result of "secret negotiations" which had language some of the
relevant committee never saw before the vote was called.
We have come to expect this kind of incompetence in Washington, but now
it seems that Washington has come to Vermont. Don't we deserve better
management of the legislative process in this state?
