After the last vote, I felt we needed someone who could take off their shoes so they could count above 10 and we all really need to thank the gal who had the integrity not to sign off on a false vote count. She's my hero. Next I was wondering, "How come we didn't get yet another task force to find out why the voters said no again. Well now it's obvious; they no longer care what you think.
It's now petitions, which are only acceptable if they're in favor of this project. The one submitted from the no voters was not acceptable before the last vote.
Finally, I'm sure of this that those special interest people of this town will keep trying to shove this down our throats. And mark my words as a last resort, these people will be selling this project to us this time as, "We need to do this for the children."
Don't buy into this snow job.

Editor's Note: The petition "submitted from the no voters" which Kettles references was received by the Waitsfield Town Clerk on June 4, after the June 10 bond vote had been legally warned. Upon receipt of the petition, Town Clerk Jennifer Peterson checked with the Vermont Secretary of State's office to see how to treat the petition. She was advised that were was no action to take on the petition because the June 10 vote had already been duly noticed and warned. The petition asked the town to "cease doing any more work and spending any more money on a municipal water and water system proposal in any shape or form." There were 78 signatures on the petition.
