This is, as far as I know, the biggest French and Indian battle re-enactment in North America to date. Over 2,000-plus re-enactors and camp followers will be at this historic sight. The recently restored wings of the old fort will accommodate the large different encampments -- British and provincial troops and their Indian allies on one side and the French and militia troops and their Indian allies on the other.
This is a must-see event with all the different uniforms, weaponry and cannons. The re-enactment takes place June 27, 28 and 29.
I have been an 18th-century re-enactor since 1976. I've wanted to go to this anniversary ever since Hanna Williams, a teacher in the old South Fayston School, read to her students about the battle 50 years ago.
Hope to see you there.
