I'm writing this letter to remind us all that we can still vote -- or help a neighbor vote -- even if getting to the actual polling place is impossible.
There are two simple steps: First, make sure you are on your town's voter check list. You can check the lists posted in town offices and post offices, or call your town clerk. For all towns, the deadline for getting on the voter check list is Wednesday, February 27, at 5 p.m.
Second, obtain an absentee ballot. The deadline for picking up an absentee ballot is Monday, March 3, at 5 p.m. You can pick up your absentee ballot from your town office or have one mailed to you (make mail requests a few days earlier than the above deadline). If you choose to pick one up in person, you can fill it in right there and leave it or take it with you to complete. If you intend to mail your ballot back, it must be in your town office's mailbox by
Tuesday, March 4; any ballots received by mail after this date will be void.
You must request or pick up an absentee ballot yourself, but you can have someone else deliver it to your town office prior to Town Meeting day or to your polling place on Town Meeting day.
