My primary choice is a local group: Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports. Its main winter adaptive ski programs are located at Sugarbush and Pico, thanks to the generosity of the resorts' owners. Vermont Adaptive is dedicated to bringing a measure of independence and enjoyment of the outdoors to individuals who have a wide range of physical, mental and developmental disabilities. The organization teaches downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, bicycling, kayaking, sailing and therapeutic horseback riding, in year-round programs.
I've never seen or worked with volunteers who are more dedicated to a non-profit and its mission.
I hope you will consider joining me in giving financial support to Vermont Adaptive. For 20 years it has done its good work through the generosity of donors such as you and me. Please go to www.vermontadaptive.org to learn more about the program and to donate.
Vermont Adaptive really does make sports possible for everybody.
