But Malcolm and I are choosing to regard it as a joke.
You know how people put articles in papers telling about their accomplishments...those of their children, etc.? Well, Malcolm would never publish his winnings. I am proud of him and rather than write an article about the National Senior Olympic Games and his "podiuming" or "medaling," I thought it was a nice informal way to let local folks know about what a great and dedicated cyclist he is. I brag...he doesn't.
So, if your letter was, indeed, meant to be amusing, it was a little obtuse for many of VR's readers. Your letter did accomplish one positive thing, however...many of us are now re-acquainted with our dictionaries.
If, however, you really mean that we are not respectable, how about ripe tomatoes at dawn -- Mehuron's parking lot?
And, by the way, did you take the moose sign?
Respectfully (if not respectable),
Barbara Stratton-Appleton
