With Congress taking a Thanksgiving holiday break and then returning for the remainder of this "lame duck" session, there is not much time remaining in which to get this very important legislation passed during the current 109th Congress.
Currently, four members of Congress are standing in the way: Senator Frist, Representative Hastert, Senator Coburn and Representative Barton. Please tell these leaders that you expect them to follow the rest of their colleagues, and the public, and support this Act.
Then, please sign the electronic petition--or print out a hard copy petition and collect signatures. Both versions are at: www.LessPinkMoreResearch.org
Take the petition with you to the grocery store and food coops and collect signatures as you do your shopping--or wherever else you go. Snail mail the signatures to the address on the bottom of the petition by November 28. They must arrive to the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) office by November 30.
For additional information about how you can help with this and other breast cancer advocacy issues, visit www.StopBreastCancer.org. Senator Pat Leahy, Senator Jim Jeffords, and Congressman Bernie Sanders have consistently supported this piece of legislation (Breast Cancer Environmental Research Act) as well as many others over the years related to breast cancer issues. They vote these issues correctly, sign on in support, and/or sign on as co-sponsors of some of the related legislation. If you have a chance, please thank them.
Please consider joining, or making a donation of any size, to the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC.) NBCC is comprised of over 250 organizations and many thousands of individuals (women and men) working together and advocating to get the right research done so we can definitively find the causes and then the cures in order to eradicate this insidious disease.
