Reply to Moretown: funding for development in flood plain withdrawn.
I’m writing to make a correction to Ben Falk’s recent letter to the editor. He incorrectly stated that “We narrowly missed a catastrophic direction with this action, where a centralized sewage system would have been plumbed into an area guaranteed to flood again and again.” The purpose of the grant money and the committee’s work was to develop a system that does not discharge into the flood plain, unlike the current condition where essentially all houses in the village currently do discharge their septic fluids into the flood plain. I served on the Moretown Clean Water Committee for more than a year, and our whole effort was to find a site that would never flood.
