To The Editor:

I really enjoyed Steve Joslin's history story in today's Valley Reporter -- thanks to The Valley Reporter for finding and reporting these local gems. The story also triggered a memory of my own. A couple of years ago I was "running" along South Hill Road in Moretown (which connects to a few houses, including ours, at the very north end of Waitsfield) on a sunny spring day and I found a 1950's Waitsfield High School yearbook in the ditch by the road. It must have recently fallen off or out of someone's car -- it was in great shape, no mud or moisture. I put a note in Front Porch Forum wondering if the owner might be found, without response.

After a while I decided to give it to the Waitsfield Elementary School as I thought it should remain in Waitsfield rather than going up the road and out of town to Harwood. The yearbook included many luminaries-to-be in the graduating class and as I recall was dedicated to Betty Joslin who will be featured in the next edition of Steve's local history. (Forgive me if I got that wrong.) Perhaps if you know whose yearbook it was that I found along South Hill Road, you could recover it from the elementary school. These links to the town's rich history are a gift to contemporary residents, whether new or multi-generational.
