Dear friends,
Please help AMURTEL in assisting those badly affected by the earthquakes that ravaged southeast Turkey and northwest Syria. The massive 7.8 and second 7.6 quakes struck on February 6. The death toll is over 36,000 and expected to climb, with millions left homeless. The frigid temperatures with snow and rain is making for greater hardship, with our team on site reporting survivors having to sleep on the bare ground.
AMURTEL has begun relief efforts in both Syria and Turkey, focusing first on getting blankets, tents, tarps, and food to survivors. Our teams are also preparing to set up psychosocial trauma care along with Child Friendly Spaces.
