To The Editor:

A truly exceptional opportunity has presented itself to the Mad River Valley when the new owner of the former Madbush Lodge applied for development permits. What the Mad River Valley does not need is a 72-seat restaurant or a 16-room lodge. What the Mad River Valley really needs is affordable multi-family housing. The land is ideal, the location is ideal, the building is ideal, and the zoning is ideal. Hopefully, the Waitsfield Development Review Board, the Mad River Valley Planning District, and the Mad River Valley Affordable Housing Coalition can inspire the applicant to reconsider plans in favor of something that will truly benefit the Mad River Valley community.
