To The Editor:

I would like to thank you for your recent articles on knotweed. I wondered what the two stacks were across from our camp. I know it as Japanese kutzu. I battled it for a year but finally got rid of it two ways: dig up all the roots or spray a herbicide on the leaves each morning for a couple weeks. Tearing off the new shoots sounds a lot easier!

However, when I was last at camp, I did go over to the piles and dug up as many roots as I saw, as I hate the stuff. It’s spreading everywhere down here in southern New Hampshire.

Good luck to the volunteers as I certainly respect their willingness to battle it.
