To The Editor:

As everyone is well aware, the Warren Fourth of July Parade is an important event and a highlight of the social season. After a hiatus in 2020 the parade is coming back strong, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Mad River Valley Rotary and our hosts, the town of Warren. Our community is so incredibly appreciative that it will actually be happening, we can hardly wait! While the celebration is certainly important from a social and community point of view, it is also vital from an economic perspective. The parade brings many visitors and second-home owners to the Mad River Valley and it, in many ways, represents the kickoff to our summer tourism season. Coupled with hiking, biking, weddings and other outdoor pursuits, the parade is a critical reason why folks find The Valley so appealing this time of year.

It is our hope that The Valley’s business community, nonprofits, coalitions and the local citizenry generally will grab the mantle of opportunity and help to make the 2021 parade “one for the ages.” As The Valley Reporter asked in their recent article, “What better place to see the parade than in the parade itself?” The theme for the parade this year is Heroes Among Us. What an outstanding opportunity to thank and celebrate the essential workers who helped get us through the past year of wackiness. There is no doubt that we will step up and rise to the occasion as we always do.

It will be great to see our community gather once again and to show the world our famous Mad River Valley resilience, spirit and conviviality. Looking forward to seeing you downtown!
