To The Editor:

I will write in Russ Bennett to replace Christine Sullivan on the HUUSD Board. Here's why.

Last week on FPF, Sullivan wrote that a school budget no-vote would result in district employees receiving pink slips with no guarantee of being rehired. Although technically true, common practice across Vermont is to provide teachers with "Letters of Intent" that assures employees that contracts will be issued once a budget is passed. Sullivan's choice of words feels a lot like a guilt trip designed to prevent voters from using a no vote to voice opposition to reorganization plans.

Russ has a long history of serving his neighbors, including service on the planning commission and as a member of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility. He has two young children about to enter Valley schools. This combination of leadership, community service and commitment to doing what's right for our children is exactly what we need.
