To The Editor:
My name is Shelley Rossman and I have stayed in Warren for the past 26 summers. My husband and I love The Valley for so many reasons, but this summer showed me just how special it is.
In June I had knee replacement surgery and I knew that I would still require physical therapy during the month that I was in Warren. This was complicated because I wasn’t going to have a car for the first two weeks of my stay. I was happy to pay for transportation, but I didn’t know where to begin. I was connected with Free Wheelin’ and my problem was solved.
Free Wheelin’ provided free transportation for me to and from physical therapy, the pharmacy and other errands. Mike Bransfield and his team were everything that you could hope for and more. First and foremost, they were safe drivers with a safe, comfortable and clean car. Additionally, they were reliable, responsive and pleasant. They arrived in a timely fashion, responded immediately to phone requests and provided this service for free!
For me, Free Wheelin’ provided more than transportation. It demonstrated the warmth and sense of community present in The Valley. I grew up in a small town and this experience reinforced all of the positive interactions that I had there with neighbor helping neighbor.
I am so impressed with the leadership of the nonprofit organizations that funded this worthy pilot project and I hope that they continue to support Free Wheelin’. I am sure that I speak for everyone who has used the services of Free Wheelin’ when I say that I am very grateful for the help that I received.
