To The Editor:
Maintain our village centers, meet optimum academic class size and address declining enrollments by creating a grades five through eight Valley middle school at Harwood and a Waterbury-Duxbury grades five through eight middle school at Crossett Brook.
For educationally optimum pre-K through four elementary schools: Warren, Waitsfield, Moretown and Waterbury/Thatcher Brook would remain ... with Fayston children choosing between Warren and Waitsfield.
An underutilized Moretown School could then become home to the Washington West offices, Fayston School could become Harwood's (new) vocational ed center and the underutilized portion of Thatcher Brook could become a day care or similar use.
Town identity would continue to thrive and little or no costly redesign would be necessary, and Harwood Union would be closer to full capacity (870+/-).
