To The Editor:

I find your January 18 editor's note and the corresponding article regarding the fire at the King's house in terribly poor taste. Barbara and John have spent many years as active, caring and valued members of our community. Your article focused mostly on the water used to fight the fire, leading conveniently into your editorial note, shamefully pointing fingers at the town of Fayston calling for water system reimbursement.

It would have been a meaningful opportunity to thank and appreciate the highly committed and valued emergency responders in our area that time and again rise to the occasion when tragedies strike. Yes, perhaps you have written something like that previously, but in circumstances like these it always bears repeating.

There may be a time and a place for discussion regarding shared water resources, but this was certainly not it.
