To The Editor:
The nostalgic photograph of the old clock tower in Village Square prompts me to suggest that it would be a fine opportunity to replace it with a new one. The same kind of open-sided wooden structure and a four-sided circular all-weather clock face is now available with perfect electronic time keeping technology requiring little or no maintenance. It could be paid for by public subscription and a suitable plaque placed on it. Since Mehuron's advertisement is alongside your photograph proclaiming its founding in 1941 – 75 years ago – they might like to start the donation list. “Meet me by the new clock tower in Village Square” might become The Valley meeting point!
Best wishes to your excellent newspaper – my first purchase on my all too infrequent visits to this beautiful valley.
