To The Editor:
Regarding an article on Page 1 in last week's issue of The Valley Reporter, I would like to clarify that Freddie Graves reached out to me about her concerns with Act 46 and her desire to fight it. I advised that our Act 46 Committee Representative is working as part of that group to develop a consolidation plan that best serves our interests and which our communities can vote on in May 2016. I indicated it would be irresponsible not to do so given that Act 46 is current law. I also voiced skepticism about the prospect of Act 46 being overturned. I advised that she explore if there is any broader support for her ideas by trying to organize a meeting. I didn't suggest a series of meetings and I am not in support of the Ethan Allen Institute's strategy to recruit towns to vote on refusing to pay their statewide education tax bills. I am concerned that readers of the article might get a different impression.
