To The Editor:

Because of snow clearance, a mound on the corner of Route 100 causes all drivers attempting to make a left turn exiting Bridge Street and going south to nose their cars much too far into the north travel lane in an unsafe manner. Even though Route 100 is a state road, safety first warrants the attention of town maintenance crews to do snow removal to improve the sight line.

Another problem exists at the intersection of Routes 17 and 100. When merging onto Route 100 and attempting to travel north, the snow clearance buildup makes it very hard to look south on Route 100 and make sure it is safe to merge. At the point where Joslin Hill Road merges into East Warren Road, a snow clearance problem exists when the buildup of snow on East Warren Road and around the street sign gets so high that many cars are lower than the bank. This I think can be reduced by the plow pushing the snow right across Joslin Hill Road and into the field on the northern side of Joslin Hill Road.

Also the snowbank developed by clearing the southern side of Joslin Hill Road at the intersection could be pushed across East Warren Road and not piled around the street sign.

Waitsfield town crews do a very good job of snow clearance, but I think these conditions warrant a permanent solution.
