What could be more pedestrian than serving Ramen Noodles (the staple of poor college students everywhere) to friends and family?
This simple, quick salad is devoured every time it is served. Here are the basics. Combine 1 lb coleslaw mix 1 bunch sliced callions
2 packages of Ramen broken
into pieces (save the seasoning
packets)
1 cup sunfl ower seeds
1 cup sliced and toasted almonds.
Mix
1/2 cup sugar
2 Ramen seasoning packets
1/3 cup vinegar
3/4 cup vegetable oil.
Pour the dressing slowly on the salad. Keeps for several days in the fridge, but never lasts that long at our house. Fancy it up a bit by using some rice vinegar and a splash of sesame oil, lime and or cilantro if you want. We use the Oriental flavor of Ramen's chicken or beef or shrimp but feel free to use any brand and flavor.
