The 2023 Rotary Duck Race has crossed the finish line with 11 winning ducks taking top honors. The race took place in front of a large flock of enthusiastic onlookers, who cheered the speedy ducks as they made their way down the Mad River at the Lareau Swim Hole in Waitsfield. The ducks quacking the top 10 were:
Julia Sprague took first place and the $1,000 prize, Milva Centarelli came in second for $500, and Alexandria Metral placed third and won the $250 prize. Gail Curtin, Scott Bennett, Renne Coleman, Ray Mikulak, Ed McDonough, Brian Crandall, and Larry Consenstein, placed fourth through 10th, respectively, and were awarded $50 each.
The 11th-place duck and winner of a roll of "duck " tape was Amy Mooney. Over $20,000 was raised by this annual event to benefit local nonprofit events and organizations through the Rotary club's local grant program.
