The Twangtown Paramours, an acoustic Americana duo from Nashville, will be performing on Tuesday, July 12, at 5 p.m. at Lawson’s Finest Liquids in Waitsfield.
This award-winning husband and wife team has toured across the country with their music and banter.
The duo consists of Mike Lewis, a Nashville songwriter who sometimes plays upright bass for Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and MaryBeth Zamer, who sang background vocals for the late Eva Cassidy.
Lewis is also a former Valley resident who attended Green Mountain Valley School and coached at the Sugarbush race program.
In February of this year, The Twangtown Paramours released a full band electric, groove-oriented, upbeat retro rock and blues album called “Double Down on a Bad Thing.” It reached No. 11 on the British independent Blues chart and No. 18 on the RMR Contemporary Blues chart in the U.S. Two singles from the album have been playing about 55,000 times a week in over 20,000 U.S. store locations. Some of the songs from the album will be showcased acoustically at Lawson’s.
As a duo, the Twangtown Paramours won Wildflower's Michael Terry People's Choice award in Richardson, TX, and in 2016, 2013 and 2011, were finalists in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk contest in Kerrville, TX. The duo performs at many well-known venues across the country and has opened for Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Claire Lynch, and Kim and Reggie Harris, amongst others. They will be playing 14 shows in the Northeast during this year’s summer tour.
The music of the Twangtown Paramours can be heard on Blues, Americana, Folk, and independent Country radio stations worldwide. Their songs and videos can be previewed at www.thetwangtownparamours.com.
