This Friday night, August 14, at 7:30 p.m., in lieu of a live performance, there will be a virtual concert for the benefit of the Mad River Chorale, "Music for a Summer Evening."
To see and hear this musical production by the chorale’s professionals, conductor and pianist Mary Jane Austin; operatic bass Erik Kroncke; and pianist Alison Cerutti; joined by piano prodigy Andreas Welch as well as Welch’s husband tenor Neil Cerutti and their daughters, visit madriverchorale.net. The link to the concert will be activated Friday evening. There will be a recording for those who are unable to see the concert on August 14.
Austin offered this description of the evening’s performance: “An event not to be missed: For a different take on the Mad River Chorale’s annual fundraiser, you are cordially invited to tune in to a virtual concert and hear selections of some of our favorite music, performed by Erik Kroncke, Alison Cerutti and Mary Jane Austin, with special guest appearances by Andreas Welch (and a few more Ceruttis). The program will offer a balance of poignancy and humor by composers ranging from Bach to Copland and interspersed with works by Schumann, Beethoven and Gershwin, among others. There will also be a set of heartfelt spirituals. Music can connect us through time and space, and no organization knows this better than the Mad River Chorale. Please help sustain us during this time as we await the day when we can finally sing together.”
