The Skinner Barn will be presenting a series of shows in June, July and August starting with Peter Boynton and Friends presenting Broadway Cabaret at the Skinner Barn on Sunday, June 24 at 8 p.m. This show will feature 12 performers who will showcase traditional songs from Broadway productions. Performers age ranges from 18 to 60 years old and the event showcases local talent and actors who have a connection with Vermont. This will be the 18th year the Skinner Barn will offer cultural events.

The next performance will be a rendition of “Gypsy” from Wednesday, July 18, through Sunday, July 22, and then again from Wednesday July 25, through Sunday, July 29, with performance starting at 8 p.m. “Gypsy” is a play written in the 1950s about one of the first famous burlesque-style dancers and her sister who became an actress. It is based on a real life family paired with a busy show business mother. It is loosely based on the “1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee.” With a 21-person acting set, a five-piece band and almost 50 people included in the overall production, the show will be a must see. It will feature over 20 songs.

In August, the Skinner Barn will put on “Always ... Patsy Cline” starting Wednesday, August 1, through Sunday, August 5 and a follow up on Wednesday, August 8, through Sunday, August 12, with performances starting at 8 p.m. The Skinner Barn never repeats a show, but nine years after the venue first staged it, the public asked for an encore performance. The play is based on Patsy Cline’s life through her letters with a close fan/friend, Louise Seger. The lead role of Patsy will be played by Broadway actress Katy Blake and will showcase roughly 30 songs.
