Let’s get it back’

To The Editor:

Our forefathers (of the mid-1900s) regretfully did not have the foresight to preserve and make use of two historic buildings in Waitsfield. 1) The Village School, 1850 to 1917, aka Waitsfield High School from 1918 to 1965, was sold and made into condos which would have been a great town hall building and, 2) the Methodist Church which was sold to the town in 1941 and many of our longtime local residents got to enjoy as a recreation, entertainment and meeting hall. The town offices were in the Methodist Church building and also the school gym for a period of time. It was sold and used as shops and apartments.

Let us not make the same mistake of passing on a wonderful possibility of preserving a major historic Waitsfield building that could serve us well for our “new” town hall, the Methodist Church, which is for sale again.

Let’s get it back!
