I feel that the triathlon has not been well promoted and is losing more and more participants every year. Fun family events can bring business to our town and lift community spirit. We need this and like events to keep our area a vacation destination and just plain fun for those of us who live here.

I have a few suggestions for the Sugarbush Resort. 1) If you are not interested in maintaining this event, pass it along to an organization that is, or share the responsibility with other interested parties. 2) Promote better. Send group email to sports clubs in the surrounding New England area. Posters and advertisements should have contact information, not just a general website address that is difficult to navigate through to get to event information. Contact local high schools and universities. Email all the past participants to see if they are returning. 3) Contact local businesses to see if lodging and dining specials can be made to event participants and families. 4) Seek out more community volunteers.  5) Contribute some proceeds to a worthy charity. People are always more willing to help and participate when it is for a greater good.

Resort towns in the United States know that in order to thrive successfully year round, events are essential. Let's keep the Sugarbush Triathlon going and continue to build a foundation for more activities here in the community.
