Mr. Reilly, are you a cyclist, an athlete or just a critic? Malcolm is an accomplished architect (he designed our house) and an award-winning cyclist on the national senior circuit? And, yes, he does receive his medals on a podium just as Olympians do.

Why poke fun at or knock someone and his wife who are both recovering from serious hip fractures at the same time?

Editor's Note: The Valley Reporter printed the letter because we thought it was meant as a gentle jest at the 'verbification' of the English language and was meant to point out that 'to podium' is not a verb, although we printed a letter which used it as such. The Valley Reporter assuredly did not mean to impugn Malcolm Appleton by printing the letter, but rather, meant to allow Reilly to poke fun at The Valley Reporter for allowing the use of a noun as a verb.
