Three additional local students will be headed to the 2018 Vermont National Geographic State Bee at Castleton University on April 6.

The National Geography Society notified Jude Fidel, a Waitsfield sixth-grader, and Cadence Powers, a Warren fifth-grader, as well as Scott Perry, a Harwood Union Middle School eighth-grader, that they qualified for the semifinals and will represent their schools on April 6.

Some of the questions that were asked of these students include:

"Iowa and Missouri both share long boundaries with what other state on the Mississippi River?" (Answer: Illinois.)

"The St. Croix River defines part of Wisconsin's border with which other state?" (Answer: Minnesota.)

"The Pearl River forms part of the border between Louisiana and what other state?" (Answer: Mississippi.)
