To The Editor:

I fully understand how blacktop road surfaces deteriorate over a period of time, in particular up here in the north country. (Last week’s front page story.) But can someone please explain how it is that Vermont Route 100 between the new Kingsbury Bridge and the Mill Brook bridge at the Eagles has over 100 cracks? The road is about nine months old yet has multiple cracks that in most instances stretch completely across from one side to the other.

Is it considered perfectly OK for a multi-thousand-dollar major state highway project to start disintegrating before its first birthday?
