To The Editor:
I would like to respond to John Sherman’s letter of last week, “Message lacking.” I am happy that many individuals who take the time to make floats for the Warren Fourth of July parade think so deeply about the messages they wish to send. I, for one, found the entry by the individuals who held up a mirror to all of us as war criminals appropriately provocative. Bombs are being dropped from drones on innocent civilians in our name and with our tax monies, and sadly, to my mind, with the authority of President Obama. We all need to be aware of what is done in our name and with our tax dollars because, in a democracy, it is we the people who authorize those choices. What better time to remind ourselves of that fact than the day we celebrate our country’s birth as a democracy, July 4.
