The Warren Main Street Project is underway

The Warren Main Street Project has finally started and the contractors need to work quickly.

Warren’s Main Street is being completely revamped and the entire project will take place between May 30 and July 3, just barely completed in time for the Fourth of July festivities.

Originally, because the project is funded by a Community Development Block Grant, the project had to be completed before July 1; however, the town was given an extension. This does not change the fact that no Warren business owner on Main Street would be happy with construction on July 4. The grant is for $220,190 and Warren has a 10 percent match.

On May 30, the Warren Planning Commission held a meeting with local businesses to discuss the project outline and get their feedback. One of the businessmen in attendance was Jack Garvin, manager of The Warren Store.

Garvin admitted that there is no good time to have a major construction project ongoing directly in front of any storefront, but Warren has worked with the local businesses to make sure they keep an open line of communication throughout the month of June.

“I think collectively between the town, which is very supportive of us, and all of the other businesses and you know the one residence, you know we'll make it work,” Garvin said.

Garvin also said that he hopes the weather cooperates so that the project can be completed on time.

“I think when it's all said and done, you know, that it will be a nice addition to the town,” Garvin added.
