Final plans in place for the Mad Tri (formerly Sugarbush Adventure Games)

Registration is underway for the reconfigured multi-event spring race, now known as the Mad Tri which continues the tradition of the Sugarbush Adventure Games in raising money to support the Mad River Path Association.

The Mad Tri, reborn out of the Sugarbush Adventure Games, takes place on Saturday, May 12, and features a 7.2-mile run, a 6-mile paddle, a 10-mile bike and an on-mountain 3-mile run. The 26.2-mile course runs through Warren, Waitsfield and Fayston.

The race begins at8 a.m.at Sugarbush’s LincolnPeak. The race also ends atLincolnPeak(see map). Team relays as well as iron men and women will compete on Saturday. A separate kids’ triathlon takes place that same afternoon atLincolnPeak. The day concludes with awards, a barbecue and live music.

As competitors return to Sugarbush, the resort will be hosting a Vermont Department of Tourism press conference celebrating the state’s sports culture. That press conference starts atnoonand features Vermont Tourism deputy commissioner Steve Cook, Mad Tri and Mad Marathon director Dori Ingalls, a Sugarbush spokesperson plus speakers discussingVermont’s recreational opportunities.
